Inauguration Day: Three Things You Can Do Right Now

Today, Joe Biden has been inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States of America. Here are three thoughts to encourage you today.

1: REMEMBER.

Jesus is King. And as King, Daniel (4:25) reminds us (repeatedly) that “the Most High rules the Kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” That truth keeps the Kings followers out of the ditch of pride (when their candidate wins) and out of the ditch of despair (when their candidate loses). Friends, Jesus has never been surprised on inauguration day.

2: PRAY.

Paul urges followers of King Jesus to pray "for kings and all who are in high positions." So just like you prayed (or should) for Donald Trump in 2016, let's pray for Joe Biden now. Open to 1 Timothy 2, and allow it to shape your prayers today.

3: LOOK.

Political ecstasy (when we win) and political despair (when we lose) are really directional signs, pointing us to Revelation 21 & 22...when the Kingdom of God comes down to earth in its final and full form. Take a moment today to read Revelation 21 & 22, let your heart be reminded again - this is how history ends. Church, as we faithfully engage our present world, let's keep looking, with eager longing, to our future!
