HELP US RESETTLE TWO AFGHAN FAMILIES

The past two weeks in Kabul, Afghanistan have captured the attention of the world. Like you we have been horrified at the humanitarian crisis that has been unfolding before us. Our hearts cry out for God to help because we believe that he can help and that we are helpless to do anything at all. Prayers are enough. They are enough because Jesus is neither deaf to our cries nor is he too weak to do what we ask. But we also believe that we may sometimes be the answer to our own prayers.

Over the course of the last week, you probably heard stories of service members both active duty and veterans communicating with their Afgan interpreters and counterparts over text messages to coordinate their escape and get them through the gates at Hamid Karzai Airport. One of those men is Adam Morgan from Waxahachie. Adam was able to guide two of his Afgan friends along with their families to safety. Adam became an answer to his own prayers.

To learn more about the families that Adam helped and how that happened read what he has to say below. But as you make your way there, please consider that you can be the answer to your own prayers, too. Give some of what God has given you to manage and help us resettle these families.

This is "Frank". This is for him and the many heroes who have been forced to flee. Frank was the commander of an elite Afghan Special Forces unit who has fought and bled more for the U.S. than most Americans ever will. I have worked alongside Frank for the last 10 years relying on him and his platoon of U.S. trained Afghan Special Forces to get us in and out of dangerous places. Their mission was to protect the sometimes 4 or 6 of us Americans so we could accomplish our mission.

Frank was stuck outside the perimeter in Kabul with his family as the Taliban was actively hunting him. He had absolutely no point of contact other than the previous Afghan commander I helped out a couple of years ago who now lives in Ft. Worth. I just happen to ask about Frank and he tells me he is being hunted door to door. Some phone calls are made, things sent up the chain, and 2 nights later Americans push past Taliban checkpoints and extract Frank and his family. They also did this for another commando and his family 2 nights later. These guys are not your typical refugees. They love America (also more than many Americans), they chose to side with us long ago, chose to bleed with us, fight with us, and they have earned my respect and gratification. They are my family.

They literally have all of their possessions in a single suitcase. They, and the others, will need money to start a new life. It is very difficult for many Afghans when they don't have any support structure once they arrive. Because of the support given in the last fundraiser to my other commando friend, he was able to get his CDL and is now a truck driver making sure you get your Amazon packages on time.

As it was Frank's mission to take care of me and many other Americans for the past 18 years, I have made Frank and the many other Afghan special operations soldiers my mission. I prayed deeply for this man and his family and God answered. Every event and relationship that had to exist for this to happen the way it did was nothing short of divine.

Once they get on the ground here in Texas I will be collecting any items you may want to donate to these families; clothes, toys, furniture, anything you think would help.
